The Taj Cape Town is a luxury, 5-star hotel set in the vibrant heart of Cape Town, offering guests a combination of refined Indian hospitality and an authentic Cape Town experience. The hotel offers guests an all-round experience including the Jiva Grande Spa and the restaurants Twankey, Mint and the Bombay Brasserie.

What We Did

AlterSage worked closely the Taj Cape Town team to create a social media strategy that utilised Facebook, Twitter and their blog. One of the aims of Taj Cape Town’s blog and social network profiles is to build an information hub for all tourism activities related to the Cape Town CBD. To kick-start the campaign the AlterSage team created, implemented and managed competitions for Taj Cape Town on both Twitter and Facebook.

Results

The AlterSage team managed the Taj Cape Town Facebook fan page – creating photo albums, managing photo comments, responding to queries and encouraging interaction on the fan page. The results were a fan base of 1 040 over an eleven week period.

On Twitter the AlterSage team had daily interaction with followers. Time was spent engaging with followers and managing Taj Cape Town’s online reputation and encouraging feedback through-out the Taj Cape Town’s construction process. Another important aspect of the Twitter campaign was cultivating and managing relationships with other travel and tourism-related bodies on Twitter. As a result, Taj Cape Town is listed on eleven Twitter lists and has a follower base of 178.
