Google Spreadsheets
Viva la revolution! So to speak.
Google are set to launch their Google Spreadsheets service today which will be made available on a limited test basis. A web-based program set to compete with the likes of the desktop based Microsoft Excel. Having acquired the web-based word processor - Writely back in March, it’s definitely been a quick integration.
Google Spreadsheets will support the import and export of documents in the .xls format used in Excel as well as the .csv (comma-separated values) format. The service will provide automatic saving (pretty much like Gmail,) as well as easy transfer of data from cell to cell, inserting and deleting of rows and columns and supports multiple sheets or tabs, said Jonathan Rochelle, product manager for Google Spreadsheet.
