Know your Neighbourhood
Matt Cutts’ post today definitely still confirms that linking to “bad neighbourhoods†and sites that are not similarly themed to your own industry will penalize your site’s wellbeing within the Google SE.
He summarised and clarified quite a bit of what’s been stirring the SEO forums recently from BigDaddy to the Google “site” operator which has been giving problems.
Most of the complaints since BigDaddy’s official launch at end of March have been regarding indexing. Thus far, it all comes back to quality links.
A few people that I’ve spoken with have misunderstood the whole experience and have now refrained from linking entirely. Linking is of course still a very big part of the SEO process – but it all depends on the kind of sites that you are linking to.
So in a nutshell if your site has not regained any stability in the SERPs, first place to look should be your outbound links.
