Recruiting

Posted in Personal, AlterSage at 5:59 am by Christine

As I was standing around talking to people at the 27Dinner on Monday night, I realised that it had been another while since I blogged.

To be honest, its just been crazy at AlterSage the last while again - but a good kind of crazy ;)

Things are settling down on the office side and the view is amazing. We will definitely make a lot of use of our balcony during summer!

I am on the recruitment path again and have two current vacancies to fill, but I am always keen to receive CVs from interested parties. If you’re interested or might know of anyone that would be, you can email me direct, use our contact form, or email directly to HR on: jobs [at] altersage [dot] com

The two current vacancies are for:

  1. XHTML Extraodinaire
  2. SEM Copywriter/Strategist

I’ll put the job descriptions on our careers page shortly.

Timing is Everything

When exactly is the right time to do anything?

That is an important question, not only in our daily lives, but especially in the competitive arena of search.

To stay one step ahead of your competitors is becoming increasingly more difficult. How does MSN | Google | Yahoo feel right now?

I’ve not heard anything from Yahoo for a while, yet their algorithm has changed ever so slightly. MSN has been the most consistent for a while, but is consistent necessarily good?

The search wars are always on the go:

What makes one algorithm better than the next? (Relevance of course, but relevance is subjective!) Is MSN winning the search wars? Who is to say? Not SEOs. We are biased. And with years of convincing anyone who would listen, we have made the world only want to be ranked well on Google. Now we feel edgy as Yahoo & MSN are proving easier to rank currently – but are they that much more relevant? Or is Google proving to be more relevant as it finds new ways to index results, thus “making it more difficult” for us SEOs to rank well and the results to trickle through “organically”…

Quality over quantity I say. I have in fact noticed that conversions from Yahoo have overtaken Google & MSN in some instances – organically speaking.

I am a passionate SEO, but even I can admit that SEO is not the be-all-end-all anymore. Nor has it been for a good while now.

I’m not saying search is dead. Not by any means! You just have to devise your strategies that much more carefully.

Search remains one of the most sustainable avenues for reaching your target market – if you do it properly that is.

To be at the top of your game you have to innovate continuously. The next generation of semantic indexing is stealthily being created and so far remains nameless. It should be interesting to follow this one to see who might snap it up. Read more here, here and here.

Where are the new generation Online Marketers?

We are in the midst of the age of Multi-channel marketing. If you do not embrace all the media channels, you, your brand or your clients will lag behind. This is fact.

The age of individual thinking is here. Step it up.

We are circling back ever so slightly to good old fashioned marketing tactics. Research, competitor analysis, story boards and strategies, with a pinch of new generation on the side ;)

It might just be time to haul out your strategies, dust off the “good and faithful” methodologies, and give them a good once make-over.
