New Media Marketing Conference Round-up

Posted in Online Marketing, AlterSage, Events at 10:39 am by Christine

So, I posted on the AlterSage FB group that I would do a round-up of the NMM Conference, but alas, time ran away with me….besides when there are already some great roundups available, I’m not going to rehash what’s already been said.

Take a look at the following sites / blogs of the conference:

I will however give you feedback from the workshop that we hosted on the last day. Albeit that we had attendance of about 10 people, I feel that we made a difference and contributed to their understanding of Online Marketing techniques. The feedback that I had personally received from the attendees of the workshop was that they would have preferred to have attended our workshop prior to the speakers, as then they would have understood the topics that much more. Well, I’m glad that I could at least make sense of everything they listened to, afterwards ;)

Joey and I also attended the Joburg 27. Vastly different format to the Cape Town 27, in the sense that it’s definitely more ‘business oriented’ whereas Cape Town is more informational and general community catch-up IMO.

In general it was great to make future business contacts, meet new people, catch-up with ones we already know, and also put faces to handles on twitter ;)

2nd Annual New Media Marketing Conference

Posted in Online Marketing, AlterSage, Events at 4:17 pm by Christine

Tuesday, the 25th of March will be the start of the 2nd Annual New Media Marketing Conference held in Joburg.

This is a four day conference of which two days will be filled with hands-on workshops. The entire conference is geared at “how to gain the competitive edge in today’s digital space“.

Anything from getting to know the Industry Jargon to latest viral and mobile strategies. Once again Social Networks, and how to monetize them, are a hot topic.

AlterSage will be attending and also hosting one of the workshops for this conference. The workshops aim to help put to practice what the delegates had learned throughout the previous days’ sessions.

AlterSage will specifically be aiming to help you structure your wider Online Media Campaign by providing you with the Online and Social Media Marketing How To’s. Ammunition to cast your net wide, yet targeted.

We’ll help you work through some of the questions you have about various online marketing strategies, or could help you shed some light on specific search engine marketing related queries that you have perhaps been experiencing in your existing campaigns.

For those not attending the Conference, I am looking forward to attending the Joburg 27 Dinner and bumping into a few of the CapeTown 27 regulars, and also meeting the Jozie geeks in person ;)

Success Abroad

Posted in Personal, AlterSage at 3:34 pm by Christine

Wow, Cape Town is indeed a scorcher compared to the cold London we just returned from.

Happy to be back after a successful venture abroad, and sails are set to venture off again consistently every six months or so. For now I’m just happy to be on solid ground as we experienced the most terrible turbulence I’ve ever had to sit through. And I’m not particularly a happy flyer in general.

Our very ambitious plans worked out well, barr the fact that we slightly underestimated the travel times between most of our meeting locations - which left us pretty exhausted travelling all round London most of each day, at least we did make it on time for all of them. And got to see every nook and cranny of London in the process. But oh, what fun it was and well, well worth it. It was great to connect with our existing clients in the area and also form new relationships.

Thank goodness for my great team at the AlterSage office in Cape Town who managed the office smoothly in my absence and made remote office management minimal.

Due to their great teamwork skills we did have time for the touristy stuff in London too, and could be spotted a mile away - looking like eskimos whilst everyone else was dressed relatively light. I quote a friend saying that it was “t-shirt weather” …brrr

London Eye was never photographed as much as we captured it in almost 1 out of 5 photos. We experienced it at dusk and it was really beautiful seeing the city light up like fairy lights. Other really touristy stuff included the Dungeons, Madame Tousseauds, the hop-on hop-off bus and loads of walking and sight-seeing.

We did at least take ourselves on a great weekend getaway before doing the (what ended up to be 21 hour) travel time back to Cape Town earlier this week.

Positive endings, or is that beginnings? ;)
